Guðjón

I am a trained philosopher, having completed a Bachelor’s degree in philosophy from the University of Iceland (2002), Master of Arts degree in philosophy and psychoanalysis from the University of Essex (2004) and a Master of Science degree in the philosophy of mental disorder from King’s College University London (2010). I am an Associate Certified Coach (ACC).

I provide existential coaching both at the Psychology Consultation at Lækjartorg 5, in Reykjavík, Iceland as well as providing coaching sessions remotely via Zoom or other platforms.

I have assisted individuals who are looking to lead more meaningful lives and feel an increased sense of purpose. I also assist individuals to work through the fear that accompanies life’s uncertainties and support them to find strength to confront the future and become authentic and sincere versions of themselves.

I do not view our difficult emotions and feelings in a negative manner as they offer us indications and clues as to what we need to confront and work through in order to find more balance in our lives.

Existential coaching is a journey of self exploration that requires honesty, courage and self empathy, and it leads to a more liberated and meaningful life.

My guiding assumptions

We are all confronted by certain problems in living that can overwhelm us, causing us to feel anxious, fearful, stressed, overwhelmed, melancholic, isolated, detached, disconnected, non-present, or in some other ways not ourselves.

We all possess the keys to our working through and managing our difficulties, and through doing so we can learn and grow from the experience to live more freely and authentically.

It is the coaching relationship that gives us space and perspective to work through our challenges, supported all the way in an atmosphere of empathy and non-judgement.
